Bacon Connoisseur’s Week: 16th – 23rd February 2008
The British love their bacon and it’s hard not to see why! The tempting, distinctive aroma and mouth-watering taste have kept the country’s love affair with the humble rasher alive.
That’s reason enough to celebrate Bacon Connoisseurs Week (16 to 23 February 2008), which aims to put the focus back on to premium bacon. Not only that, the Week is a great opportunity for butchers to encourage their customers to try a new variety and boost sales.
To showcase the many different varieties of premium bacon available – and perhaps even provide the inspiration for some new cures – the British Pig Executive (BPEX) is launching a nationwide search to find Britain’s finest bacon.
This competition aims to find the most exciting and delicious bacon the country has to offer and there is a dedicated category especially for butchers. So if you produce bacon that is fit for a connoisseur, then don’t miss this chance of being shortlisted for an award during Bacon Connoisseurs Week 2008!
The competition is open to all catering and independent butchers who produce their own bacon. Up to two varieties can be entered, samples of which will be required for judging in the New Year.
